West Wood Creations is built on a lifelong connection to wood. As a 2nd generation carpenter, Henk grew up working alongside his father, who started a cabinet-making business more than 45 years ago.

School holidays weren’t spent outside playing rugby, they were spent in the workshop, grafting and learning the craft from the ground up, one splinter at a time. From working with solid wood to understanding how materials come together, that early experience became a foundation.

After years of building custom-made furniture under Henk Wood Creations, which he still does as part of his overall offering, he developed his skills (and a BTech degree in Wood Technology), patience, and attention to detail that define his work today. This includes 2 years in Canada building playgrounds.

In 2015, he registered his home building company, West Wood Creations (Pty) Ltd. He knew he needed to gain more experience in building homes before taking it further, and that turning point came when he built his own home in 2020.

What started as a passion project would become a showcase for what timber construction could be. That home laid the groundwork for West Wood Creations. It became the showroom for potential customers and shifted the focus from furniture to building full timber homes, decks and structures.

Today, with a every project reflects that same journey, built on experience, shaped by the landscape and driven by a passion for working with wood.
